Assignment Three - Experiential Learning (Partner Project)
My partner was Katie Shin. She has already been accepted into the Foster school of Business and plans to double major in Finance and Economics. She wants to teach Finance as a college professor. She is already very active in the UW community as a member of the Ultimate Frisbee team, Business Leaders in Health Care, Korean Student Association, and Husky Tennis Club. She is also planning on applying to the Delta Sigma Pi, a business fraternity, in the winter. She is interested in studying abroad in Germany sometime during her undergraduate years, preferably during the summer before her Junior year. This summer, she wants to find a business internship.
My advice to Katie: be sure to stay on top of all of your commitments! It is definitely possible to be involved in multiple organizations, but it will be a lot to juggle on top of your classes. Time management is key. I would also recommend creating a 4-year plan of your classes through myUW MyPlan. It is an easy way to help organize your schedule and keep track of what classes you need to graduate for both majors.
My recommendations: look into the study abroad opportunities offered specifically through Foster! There is one program that works with University of Mannheim in Germany that may interest you! It would be for a semester, either September-December or February-June. The classes are taught in either English or German, so you are not required to have fluency in German to apply. If you do apply to that program, be sure to check out the Foster Buddy Program as well! It connects UW students studying abroad through the Foster school of business to a student at the University they are travelling to! The student contacts you prior to the trip, meets you at the airport, and is a friendly guide during your stay. There are also other business fraternities to keep in mind, including: Beta Alpha Psi and Alpha Kappa Psi!
